co-operatives uk report for policymakers that features Loco Home Retrofit as a case study

Loco home Retrofit features in new co-operative report for policy makers

Co-operatives UK have released a new report that shows how retrofit co-operatives are the missing link for the UK’s ambitions to make 20 million homes energy efficient by 2035.

Millions of UK and Scottish households want to cut their energy use and decarbonise. Despite the tough economic climate, many can afford to invest in their homes. But they’re holding back – put off by market failures in independent advice, quality assurance, installation standards, finance and skills.

In this new resource by Co-operatives UK, Loco Home Retrofit features as a case study.

“Our theory is that in each town or
community, you need a local trusted
advisor rooted in that community, and
the co-op model is the perfect way to
do this.”

This will require a six-fold increase on recent activity. The government’s Warm Homes Plan is a start. But it won’t work without tackling supply chain failures.
