Shape The Future Of Heating In Glasgow: Join Our Focus Group!

How do we move away from fossil fuels and make Glasgow homes warmer, greener, and more efficient? It’s a big question, and we need your help to answer it.

Loco Home Retrofit is teaming up with GALLANT (University of Glasgow) to host an in-person focus group. We’re looking for a wide range of voices to help us identify and dismantle the barriers preventing people from adopting heat pumps in private homes across the city.

Event Details

Whether you already have a heat pump, are curious about them, are professionally involved, or are even firmly opposed to the idea—we want to hear from you.

When: Tuesday, 28th April | 17:00 – 19:30

  • Where: Glasgow University (In-person)
  • The Perks: Food is provided at 17:00, and all attendees will receive a £20 gift voucher as a thank you for their time.
  • Preparation: None required! Just bring your opinions and experiences.

Why join?

This session is about more than just “tech talk.” It’s about a “whole systems” approach—looking at how heating transitions impact public health, our local economy, and our collective wellbeing. Your input will directly inform research aimed at making sustainable home heating accessible for everyone in Glasgow.

Note: Space is limited. We will confirm attendees by 17:00 on 21st April, at which point we will provide ethics information and consent forms.

Behind the Scenes: Testing the Sensors

While we prepare for the focus group, the Loco Home team has been busy getting “hands-on” with home health. Over the last few weeks, staff members have been trialing Smart Citizen Kits in their own homes to monitor indoor environments.

It turns out, our homes have a lot to tell us! Staff member Georgina shared her findings:

“All staff members who tested the sensors observed how air quality decreases when frying food! It’s definitely made me more aware of my indoor environment.”

These sensors track various metrics, helping us understand the relationship between how we live, how we heat our homes, and the air we breathe. It’s all part of our mission to make Glasgow’s housing stock fit for the future.
