Q. Will you force me to get a heat pump as part of this service?
Absolutely not! At Loco Home we take all of your preferences into consideration–including if you are happy with your boiler and don’t want to make any changes to your heating system. Our survey can instead only focus on the energy efficiency of your property so that you get the most out of your current heating system and thus lower your bills.
Q. I want to save money on bills and I do want to do my bit for the planet. But I don’t think I can afford a heat pump and I’m still a bit skeptical about the whole thing!
At Loco Home we understand that these are big decisions and we know that many of our customers usually come to us after quite a lot of independent research. As a non-profit co-op, we do free open home events in local communities where you get to meet a heat pump owner and to learn about their experiences. We want people who are curious to get a chance to see things for themselves and clear up common misconceptions. You are also welcome to ask budget questions and hear about the funding options available.
Q. Do you help with funding?
A. As retrofit experts, are able to help you find any funding that’s available to you! As part of the service we’ll encourage you to apply for anything that we know you’re entitled to and explain the process. Q. I see one of your services start at £0. What’s the catch?
A. No catch at all. Our referral service connects you with our trusted trader network. We get a small referral fee that pays for our time and expertise. At Loco Home we want to support our trusted traders that do great work.
Q. Why do traders give referral fees to Loco Home?
As a trader, finding customers sometimes requires time and money spent on marketing or spending time talking to potential leads that might go nowhere. At Loco Home, we’re passing on amazing customers who are confident in their next steps.
We attract great installers who know that they offer a great service and outcome (if they didn’t we would remove them from our network!)

Q. My reno budget is really tight. I don’t know if getting a service from Loco Home is worth it!
At Loco Home, we believe that making a plan at the beginning will reduce mistakes and costly errors. Renovation (changing the look and function of the home) and retrofit (improving the energy efficiency of your home) should really go hand-in-hand. When you’re installing a new kitchen or bathroom, if your home is currently cold with mould and condensation problems, insulation, airtightness and ventilation are important factors to consider.
When carrying out a full home renovation and retrofit, getting expert advice, a whole home plan and good, vetted installers could save you a lot of money and time.
Q. Can I still contact Loco Home after I get my plan and my 1 hour debrief?
Yes! We are here for the whole journey, not just the beginning.
Q. Do heat pumps work? What about old homes?
Absolutely! We help with careful design planning and connect you to our vetted installer network. Check out our open homes or find webinars in our online members’ area. We have detailed webinars on all things retrofit where you can meet our members who are happy with their cosy Victorian homes that function perfectly with heat pumps!
